Key Features

The flash butt process heats workpiece ends through controlled electrical flashing, then applies a rapid upset force that extrudes molten metal and oxides from the bond line. The result is a solid-phase crystalline joint with mechanical properties that meet or exceed those of the base material — no filler metal, flux, or shielding gas required.

With 300 KVA rated capacity and 42 KA maximum short-circuit current, the BO-300 handles weld cross-sections up to 2,000 mm². This covers a broad range of rod, bar, strip, and tube profiles commonly processed in wire drawing, rebar fabrication, and rim manufacturing lines.

Hydraulic actuators control both clamping force and upset travel with programmable precision. The integrated control panel lets operators store and recall weld parameters for different workpiece sizes and materials, reducing setup time and eliminating reliance on individual operator skill for weld quality.

The water-cooled transformer and electrode system, rated at 24 L/min, dissipates heat efficiently during continuous operation. Combined with a 50% rated load duration, the BO-300 supports high-throughput production schedules without forced cooling downtime.

A heavy-duty steel frame with precision linear guides absorbs the substantial mechanical loads generated during upset forging. Machined clamping surfaces and rigid alignment features maintain workpiece concentricity weld after weld, reducing post-weld straightening and material waste.

Technical Specifications

The working principle of flash butt welding is that the two workpieces are not in contact with each other before the two clamp electrodes clamped and connected to the power supply (transformer), and then move the movable fixture. When the two welders end face light contact, that is, heating, contact point due to heating and the formation of liquid metal “over the beam” and burst, so there is a spark jet, forming a flash. As the moving fixture moves continuously, the flash also occurs continuously.

Flash when the two ends of the welders get heated, when the welding temperature is reached, the dynamic fixture suddenly accelerates, with a large top forging force to make the two ends squeeze each other, is a strong plastic deformation of the welding area, in the extrusion of molten metal at the same time, the bonding surface formed a crystallization of interaction, it formed a solid welded joint.
