Key Features

The machine seals the wheel rim hydraulically from both sides, pressurizes it with compressed air at 0.5–0.6 MPa, and lowers it completely into water. As the wheel rotates through two full turns, operators visually inspect every surface for escaping air bubbles — reliably catching hairline cracks, weld porosity, and structural defects that pressure-decay methods can miss.

A 125 mm bore oil cylinder delivers up to 850KN of squeezing force (16-ton max) to seal the wheel against both platens. The dual-side compression design accommodates varying wheel widths quickly, and the multi-point lifting bracket adjusts via knobs to centralize wheels of different diameters up to 26″, minimizing changeover time between SKUs.

The testing tank is welded from 20 mm thick steel plate, lined internally with stainless steel, and undergoes post-weld polishing and annealing. Critical bore holes and sealing surfaces are finished on a large machining center, delivering the dimensional precision and pressure integrity required for repeatable, leak-free test cycles over years of production use.

The Siemens-compatible PLC core drives automatic, manual, and reset operating modes through a touchscreen HMI. The system automatically records process control parameters for each test cycle, performs fault self-diagnosis, and logs alarms with on-screen cause analysis and corrective guidance — supporting quality audits and integration with factory MES via a built-in data transmission interface.

Each wheel completes the full sequence — load, seal, pressurize, submerge, rotate, inspect, drain, and unload — in 35–45 seconds with air consumption of approximately 0.25 m³ per piece. Combined with the 4KW hydraulic station operating at 7–15 MPa, the machine balances thorough inspection with the pace demanded by high-output wheel manufacturing lines.

Technical Specifications

The air tightness testing machine seal the aluminum alloy wheel from two sides by squeezing, with high pressure gas feeding, and submerge wheel into water completely, and rotate wheel to check if any air bubble coming out cause of crack or damage.

Electrical cabinets are placed in the machine, compact structure, convenient operation. Electric control system by the electrical cabinets, operation panel of hardware and application software. Operation panel is installed on the touch screen and commonly used control button and the light is convenient adjustment operation. Advanced electric control system configuration is reasonable. Control system with automatic, manual and reset mode, meet the demand of production process adjustment, etc.

PLC system as the core to improve the reliability of the system. Controller and touch screen using PLC and touch screen, equipped with transmission interface for upper information system. Electronic control system should have automatic recording process control parameters of the function, fault self-diagnosis function, fault alarm automatic cycle recording function.

Water storage tank The water storage tank is made of 15 mm thick steel plate welding and become, in the internal surface of stainless steel water tank as the package, there are six cleaning hole.
Testing water tank The testing water tank is made of 20 mm thick steel plate welding, stainless steel internal package, polishing after welding and annealing. Each hole and the critical surface is large processing center processing, high precision, resistance to pressure.
Lifting bracket The lifting bracket adopts multi-points positioning, with knob adjustment for alloy wheel centralizing with different diameter size, to get quick operation and tightness pressing.
Squeezing mechanism We also design the pressure before and after compaction, such can also quickly to different wheel wide wheel pressure tight seal. Improve the production efficiency, saving production time.
Spindle institutions Driven spindle and spindle are passive chose large thrust bearing, the biggest can withstand 800KN thrust from the cylinder.
